There are multiple causes for low pay. Plus more nurses than jobs means more competition
I am in Arizona, MSN and is unable to secure an interview, if you know someone in a company, you might have some luck. I look at it this way, hospitals not interested in me for I have been in SNF all my adult life. But even some Nursing homes do not even send regret letters.

Hello all!!!
Upon completion of my BSN, I started at a long term acute care for $26.75. I worked there for five years as both floor and charge nurse and ended up with $34 (plus I was a weekend contract for almost three years working nights and getting $13 additional plus extra for doing charge). Unfortunately I had to resign due to family issues and go to Europe for several months, then I came back and took some time to study for the MCAT.
Yesterday, I had interview with some facility with a similar set-up I worked at (they have devided ICU/step down) and they offered me $29.51. Does anyone know of any job openings in Arizona that are paid more??
Hope to hear from you!
