hi all
what is the best way to switch from emergency room nursing to pediatrics
i been in emergency medicinefor a long time and i want to work with the kids
not sure which discipline
but just wondering what is the best transition for this

You would be adored as a school nurse. Lots of sports injuries,etc.
Start out as substitute nurse, if it is your niche you would be most welcomed.
If it is not you will have some pedi experience to move on.
In our state, subs do not have to be sn certified to sub.

If you don't have significant peds experience and want to get some ... try applying to a pediatric ED. Your ED experience might be a big advantage in getting the job. Their orientation would teach you about peds ... and once you are working for the local children's hospital and shown yourself to be a good employee, you could either stay in the ED if that suited you or transfer to a different unit.
Is there a children's hospital in your community? If not, is there an ED that gets most of the peds cases?
