Swedish RN Residency Program - February Cohort 2018

Published

Hello, new grad nurses!

I applied to Swedish Medical Center in Washington State for their RN Residency program that starts in February. I applied four days after I passed my NCLEX-RN exam. The Recruiter contacted me the very next day! They told me to do a video interview which I did three days ago. I was wondering if anyone else has applied to their RN residency program. I am hoping to hear back from them soon, hopefully by next week.

Yeah hopefully :) I only had one interview which was through HireVue so I did not know who to sent out a thank you email.

Hi there! Any luck with hearing back from the recruiter at Swedish? I also interviewed through HireVue in mid-Jan and waiting to hear back.

Hi there! No I have not heard back from Swedish as well. In the meantime, I have applied to other hospitals with RN Residency programs. It is definitely a waiting game. I am hopeful. But persistent. Don't give up! Something is better down the road!

Hi there, me too, I had online interview, nothing heard that.

studying for NCLEX test, that's it.

Did you pass the NCLEX?

Yes! I passed NCLEX on November 2017.

Congratulations!!

I just graduated Dec 2017, waiting for test schedule while studying.

What have you been doing after test?

Thinking about test middle of February. Then.. What should I do? keep looking for a job?

Thank you very much!! Congrats on passing nursing school! You are SO close! you have jumped one of the biggest hurdles and you have one more jump! you got this! I am in a one year RN-BSN program right now. Take the test whenever YOU feel comfortable taking it. I only used uWorld to review and spent eight weeks to study and I felt so confident on test day! Once I passed my NCLEX-RN exam, I started applying for jobs during thanskgiving week (the week after I passed) and I am keep looking out for open RN Residency programs and just applying wherever I can. :)

I actually got a rejection email from them on Jan. 19. But hey, if you didn't get anything from them then maybe you're still in the running?

Oh really? That's interesting. I wanted to ask them about the progress of my application and I got a reply back on January 11th saying this: "We are currently interviewing candidates in your selected specialties that have the preferred qualifications. At this time I anticipate all of our ED and ICU positions will be filled. If you would like to expand your interest beyond the ED and ICU I can be sure to reach out to you should we have other interview opportunities"

So, I am not sure If I am still running. However, things can ALWAYS change. you never know where I might end up getting. It will be a total surprise. But, I am open to surprises, even if it is rejection. Gotta stay positive! :)

would you mind talking about 1 year BSN program?

Well, I always thought you had to have an RN license to apply to these RN-BSN programs. I am not sure how it is in other universities, but university of Washington, Tacoma had an open application for Early Enrollment program application for summer 2016. When I was in my second quarter in nursing program, one of my professors talked about this and it was specifically for students currently enrolled in an ADN Program (AAS-T or equivalent) at Highline College, Tacoma Community College, or Pierce College. I went to Tacoma Community College, so I was able to apply for this early enrollment program for the summer of 2016. So I took a one elective course that summer 2016 which applied directly toward the BSN program. I went back to University of Washington Tacoma in the Fall 2017 after I graduated from nursing school to resume back in the BSN program. You can choose part time or full time and I am in the full time and will be graduating in Spring 2018 (June). I am truly grateful for this opportunity and I can see that it is helping me finish BSN very fast. I am not sure if other universities outside of WA state does this sort of thing or not. it would be cool.

Hope that made sense to you. Here is a link, if you or anyone is interested in applying or in knowing more about the application. :)
