And more specific questions I have for anyone who is currently in or has completed the residency....
How are you liking it? Are you promised work on at least a floor at Swedish once you complete your residency? What are the hours like in your week? Are you paid for your time in simulation lab or just when you're working on the floor and precepting experienced RNs? Are there health insurance/benefits similar to what a nurse might have working in a non-residency capacity?
Hi there,
I also applied to the May 2014 cohort. I hope we get more traffic on this thread so we can stay in touch on the process and share tips.
I had a phone interview last Friday. I don't feel very confident that it went well but the recruiter was very nice and stated that she just began her phone screenings and that it would be 2-3 weeks before I heard anything back either way. Fingers crossed!!!
...and best of luck to you sweetjane and anyone else who has applied.
Hi guys!
I also applied for the May 2014 cohort and was wondering how you got the phone interview. I really want to give them a call and maybe follow up? I'd love the opportunity for this residency but can't find a number or email anywhere! Any tips or advice? I feel like I'm doing something wrong with my resume and cover letter too :/ I even would fly up to Seattle just to follow up on my app! lol I'm from California. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. and congrats & good luck to you guys with the interviews!! :)
I found out about the residency program when looking at their careers website. It was one of the job options to apply to. My sense is that it's only posted for a short period of time three times per year, and once it's no longer posted then you have to wait for the next cohort application to apply again. But it was sheer chance that I happened upon it.
I completed the residency program with Swedish and am working on the floor where I was trained. Most nurses work 3 12 hour shifts a week, nights after the residency is complete. I am not sure if everyone does. You are paid for all the time you spend in class, working on education and on the floor. Benefits are the same for residents as any new hire employee. Good Luck. Swedish is a great place to start your nursing career.

Hello everyone! I just applied to the Nurse Residency program at Swedish in Seattle, WA for the May 2014 cohort. Anyone else in the same boat? Getting excited? Would love to hear from folks who started in previous cohorts.
Thanks!
