Hi all! New nurse here looking for some guidance regarding the residency program at Swedish Cherry Hill in Seattle.
Over the Summer I had clinical at Swedish Cherry and really connected with the folks on my unit. A clinical instructor put me in touch with the unit manager, who said she would like to hire me after I got my RN. I let her know that I'm in graduate school (RN-to-DNP) and she said we could probably work around my part-time class schedule. I recently interviewed with her, was offered the job, and accepted. Great! But now I am in the onboarding stage and it looks like it's not going to work out. The folks from the residency program told the manager that they cannot flex around my school schedule and I would have to defer grad school to enter the program (which would mean dropping out -- I don't want to do this). However, no one has been able to tell me what the residency schedule actually looks like. My classes are all online, some asynchronous, with a big break right in the middle of the residency (11/25-1/4). All this to say, I might be able to make it work if I could knew more about the schedule. I'm wondering if anyone who has gone through this residency can tell me what it's actually like (day-to-day scheduling, how much is classes vs. sim vs. time on the unit, is any of it online etc.). Any other advice about how to navigate this situation would be much appreciated!
Thanks so much.
