Surgical terminology trouble. Help, scrub nurses!!!

Published

Hello, everyone. I've tried looking this acronym up, and I can't find it anywhere! I was hoping that someone could help me.

This lady had a hysterectomy. The surgeon used a scope and put it through her abdominal wall near the umbilicus. he also had these scissor things that he used to d/c the uterus from the abdominal wall. These scissor things heated up and burned the membranes holding the uterus to the abdominal wall. he then removed the uterus and adenoid through the lady parts.

I'm thinking that the "L" means "left" and the "A" means "adenoid" and the "H" means "hysterectomy" but I am not sure. Any ideas???

How about those scissor things? Anyone know what they are called??? Thanks!!!

Laparoscopic Assisted Hysterectomy

thanks!! I made that a a lot harder than it was. By burning the common bile duct to remove the GB during this procedure, would this action be "ligating" also? You know, when the tissues are actually being burned and you smell it through the mask? I know that with a BTL the surgeon sometimes ties rubber bands and this is a "ligation," but what about the GB? the fiberoptic forceps clamped down on small sections of the duct, and when they clamped down they started heating up, and when it beeped the surgeon opened the forceps and the tissues where the forceps had been clamped were black and burned. Was he ligating?

Thanks!!!
