school nurse salary......

i'm a bit confused. and a bit stressed out....i was given a quoted salary when the human resource supervisor called and offered me the job.....when i arrive to sign the contract i'm told "this (a lesser amount than quoted) is your base pay and you will receive your contracted pay once your years of employment are verified".

and now it's left up to me to contact each and every former employer, hunt them down for them to sign and send in this form to human resources (i thought the whole point of giving my soc security number, date of birth, drivers license was for THEM to verify my employment)....but here's the kicker: i will get the quoted contracted pay based on full time years....

??? has anyone heard of this? so what happens to my part time and per diem nursing experience, because half of my years worked have been part time and/or per diem.....:crying2:

I have actually had to do this when changing state licenses, track down each employer and supervisor. It took me 3 days.

It is not unusual for pay rates to be based on full time work experience, with part time work prorated. So if you worked 2 years at half time = one year full time.

I have had two school nurse jobs that would only count full time school nurse experience for salary. My years of acute care experience were not counted.

I did not have to go through that where I am I was just given the one salary. Here they do not pay that much attention to the nurse!

Yes, I had to do the same thing....it was a bit of a pain, as I'd previously lived in another state and had to mail stuff to each but I did it 'cause I needed the $$$
