SUNY Farmingdale Nursing Spring 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello Everybody!

I didn't see a discussion for the Farmingdale Spring 2017 class so I figured I would start one up! Just took my TEAS and came out with an 87.3, but my pre-reqs are what's worrying me. I graduated UMass Amherst back in Spring of 2014 with my BS in Kinesiology and decided after two years of working insurance, that it isn't for me. Came out of school with a 3.1 overall GPA because I was an idiot who liked to do more socializing then school work. Unfortunately it took 2 years of me working in the real world to realize that being a nurse is what I really want to do with my life.

My pre-reqs are:

A&P I & II - B+ in both (A in A&P I Lab and B+ in A&P II lab)

Stat - C+ in general statistics, A- in Biostats (no idea what they'll take)

Psych - B

English - B

I'm hoping someone can possibly give me some feedback based on previous experience? Thank you! Good luck to all

i know this is a year old, but i just transferred to farmingdale from hunter because to get into their nursing program you need a B+ in orgo the first time you take it and i got a B :( i am taking a&p 1 right now and will take 2 next sem and was planning on applying for the spring 2018 transfer program. I had a 3.6 at hunter, but currently my gpa is 0 since I transferred here and im assuming they will still look at my grades from there. so i got an A- in stats and b+ in psych and A in eng there. So if i get an A in a & p will I be ok?? weve only taken one test so far and i got a 94. Honestly i heard its a bit easier to get into the transfer program at farmingdale. All the classes i have been taking are all geared to majoring in nursing, im scared im not going to be accepted and have to take even longer to graduate.

Hi Alik34!

From what I've heard, the advance standing program has more applicants than usual this year. A different thread said about 600 applicants, but I've heard higher numbers. Admissions look at the TEAS and prerequisite grades, so prepare for the TEAS. Most of those accepted last year had high TEAS scores and above 3.3 GPAs. I think the biggest concern is that you can not apply for the Spring 2018 program because A&P 1 and 2 must be completed prior to January classes starting. They only have the freshman class in the fall semester and don't accept transfers into the program at that time. I would go to the Tuesday information session or contact the department for more information about the prerequisites though. Hope this helps!

Hi! I was wondering if I could possibly get your opinion about how you like farmingdale so far? I applied to this years spring 2018 program and am worrying I may not get in with my stats. I currently have a 3.65 gpa and my TEAS score was 84.7. Do you think I have a chance of getting accepted? My Prerequisites were pretty good and I believe my prereq gpa is between a 3.7-3.8. I completed all my prereqs so I don't need to take anything else to qualify. I'm just getting more and more anxious! Especially now that you say there is way more applicants this year :(

My TEAS score was in the 94 percentile. Is that good?

Sorry, but also a few more questions.Does anyone know how many get wait listed and how many are accepted from there? Does anyone know if they base it on a "point system like other colleges? If so, anyone have insight on what that point system looks like? Im attaching my grades and teas so someone can give me an idea my odds.
