Good Noon-time. 78 degrees with humidity 85% ; possible rain this afternoon and again this evening.
Yesterday was a trial.....my laptop's screen froze! I was freaked out and LOST without it, as it is my 'newspaper' and connection to those outside this U-Nannie-verse. I must have done at least 25+ Word Search puzzles just to give my brain something else to 'concentrate' on...... or is "DE-concentrate" a word? I am trying to step back from the irritation you-know-who manages to call forth in me. (It's HARD!)
So, yesterday, not knowing what to do about the laptop screen being stuck, I just left it unplugged to run down the battery, and then just before I got in bed, I plugged it back in without turning it back on. This morning? VOILA! I turned it on and here we are! PHEW!
I heard the back door open and close. I think it was just SiL delivering Nannie's TENA 3XL 'Pro-Skin' Over-night pads; I sent her a text yesterday that 'we' were using the last one last night. Right now I cannot tell if she is going to do Nannie's Sunday shower, something she does to save time in getting Nannie ready to go to the Senior Center on Monday mornings. I am staying holed-up in my room. Just finished my AM meds and 1st cup of coffee, and I'd like a 2nd cup, but will wait until I think the 'coast is clear' before I make another appearance in the kitchen. I don't think she has plans to take Nannie to her house, but it would be soooo nice if she did!
I guess I will do tomorrow what I was going to do this past Thursday, but could not, as Chatty didn't show. She told SiL in a text that she would be here NEXT Thursday. SiL had told me she was going to look for someone else who is a little more reliable, but I'm not sure if she's said anything to Chatty CG about it yet. We will see what we see when we see it. I think I hear SiL's voice, but this particular bedroom doesn't pick up noise from downstairs very well, even though there is a vent in the floor of this room, which is in the ceiling of the den. You'd THINK that the sound would carry up through the open vent, but nooooo.
Anyway, I guess I will get dressed, then come back to rest on the bed until I ascertain what is going on downstairs. It's difficult to be a hermit when there are people coming and going, and/or Nannie is installed in her recliner. Hard to be a 'loner' when 'they' don't leave me alone! I know this is one of my constant repetitions, but I would LOVE to have an entire week here on my own. I keep hoping even though I am not very hopeful!
Am SO GLAD to have a functioning lap-top! I may be back here later....
Yep, SiL did get Nannie showered and did her hair. I came down for my 2nd cup of coffee as she was getting ready to leave. So tomorrow's schedule is that I get up early and get Nannie ready for daycare and BiL will take her there, and SiL said she would pick her up in the afternoon ( I don't know if it will be an early pick-up, but I suspect it will be.)
She also brought over some homemade chicken salad and a jar of homemade chicken soup (stew?), so I don't have to fret about supper. ☺️
Nannie looks like she is going to doze. Let us pray!
I hear you about wanting some alone time. I could get so much done if everyone else took a little vacation and let me stay home alone. I run off to my bedroom because it needs to be quiet (and more or less dark) for Twin B to sleep. Meanwhile the sounds I hear from Gma are lick lick suck slurp gulp. Ick.
I finally talked to my sister yesterday (in my bedroom -- too hot and sticky outdoors). She is about 80 miles from the worst of the flooding in Texas. The news out of there is heartbreaking.
Our July 4th was low-key. Grilled steaks. I cut up strawberries to have with angel food cake. And we had store-bought apple pie.
Our internet has been out and is still a bit unreliable.
Ado~ Do you think an adult sized pacifier might help reduce Gma's slurping, finger- sucking noises? Or put Gorilla-glue brand duct tape over the mouth? On the other hand you could buy you some noise-canceling ear-muffs. I really don't know what I would do in the same circumstance....maybe think about trying not to scream, "STOP IT!" (or yelling 'shuddup!') Gosh, we each have our own crosses to bear, and pardon me, but YOURS really sucks. Um, hahahaha? 😫 I hope you know I am not serious about the duct tape! I would never do anything like that for real, but it is a way I cope, by thinking up something equally torturous for 'the offender'.
~~~~~~1 + 1/2 hours until Nannie goes to bed! 😄 -------> w00t!
Tweety glad you got out on time
NJ22 thanks for sharing the photo
Was a fairly ordinary day for me. Went to the arboretum for some bird watching. Stopped at their gift shop for one of their puzzles. Had lunch with dad as usual. Ran a few errands. Started a new TV series, a Spanish one, Cable Girls. Skipped Svengoolie as I'd seen the movie more than once. Going to sleep took longer as some people will still firing off fireworks until later in the evening
Today will get to church early to be assisting minister. Then will come home and do the cooking for the week. Looking ahead to plan some things with friends this month, should be a less busy month that the last was
Will be cooler today, in the mid 80s, should remain that way most of the week
