Summer '13: taking 3 classes?!

Okay I know it's a little far away, but I'm planning on taking pharmacology over the summer along with my humanities elective and dev. Psychology. I know I only have a couple months to take all this material in and especially with pharm it will be a struggle. I am, however using my vacation days from my job(I work FT), to take two days off per week during the summer so I'll have four days off each week for studying. Has anyone done this or something similar and if so, what was your experience? Is it feasible and what are your opinions? Thanks

Ps. The only reason I and doing it this way is I will have every pre req completed by the end of summer of I do this, meaning I will be able to apply in september for the February nursing program. If not, I have to wait until the next year.

I took Anatomy & Physiology I and Statistics over the summer. I had to quit my job in order to take these two classes because I was literally in class Monday-Thursday, from 9am to 4pm and used every minute I wasn't in class to study.

Have you ever taken summer classes before? If you haven't, I will tell you that I was amazed at how fast summer classes move. If you miss one class- get ready to fall behind. Now that I am in my first semester of nursing school this fall I realize how slowly everything is during fall & spring semesters which is a breath of fresh air compared to the summer classes.

I am taking 3 Nursing courses next summer, but again will not be able to work. Although you did say you will have two days off plus weekends to study for the classes, that sounds pretty doable.

Everyone is different though.

Good luck!

I took three classes last summer--micro, A&P I and philosophy. I would not recommend doing that. I squeaked by..

Why not take your dev. psy or humanities this spring?

I too am taking 3 classes summer 2013. Ap 1, ap 2, a com 101. I will really be taking only two classes at once because the aps are only 8 weeks each. Good luck!

Just a word of warning: Pharmacology will eat up ALL of your study time. I kid you not! I am taking 6 classes this semester (no job, just school) and Pharmacology is by far the MOST time consuming class I have. I barely have time for my other classes because there is so much reading & studying involved. Not to mention the pass/fail math component that comes along with the course (drug dosage calculation tests have to be passed with 90% or better by the 3rd exam or you fail the entire course!)

Summer is a much shorter semester than spring or fall. If there's any way you can take Pharm in the spring, I would highly recommend that you take it then and not in the summer.

Like previous people have mentioned, summer classes are tough. I took A&P 2 this past summer and I was shocked how hard it was because of how fast the class moved. I spent roughly 4 hours of studying per day outside of class at least 5-6 days a week on the class and I work from home and can set my own hours (and I did not work much...too much studying). I know that wanting to get all the classes completed is tempting, but just be prepared for the fast-paced summer courses. Good luck!

I would take pharm over the spring but I am also taking micro w/lab over the spring and nutrition. I didn't want to take micro with pharm in the same semester. I may just have to add my humanities elective class to my schedule for spring but that 4 classes(including the lab) plus working FT. Aiyiyi I'll have to figure something out. Thanks for the suggestions and advice so far.
