Summer Reading

I am preparing for nursing school next semester and my instructors have assigned summer reading. I am definitely going to read it all (it is sooo much), but is it worth my time to sit down and take notes/outlines while reading? Or will notetaking and highlighting within the book be sufficient?

I would say that depends on what type of study method works for you. I am a huge advocate of students knowing their learning styles so that they can study effectively- quality of studying will trump quantity of studying. I could sit and read a book over and over but it won't stick. I can take that same reading assignment and create visual aids that will make the information stick. There are a multitude of learning styles inventories- my personal favorite happens to be the VARK questionnaire.
