Hello,
I am wondering if anyone in here graduated from Xavier University ABSN program or perhaps is accepted into the program and starting in May, 2020.
I just accepted into the program and i must be honest, i am very much nervous. i have zero background in healthcare because my 1st undergrad is in Management leadership. Any word of encouragement would be helpful at this moment.
is it possible to work while in school?
How does the loan system work? is it possible to borrow more so i can keep roof over my head and not have to work?
Is it typical for people to feel this way getting into an ABSN program?

Hi,
Congratulations!! I just recently submitted my application for the Cincinnati campus ABSN Summer 2020 May cohort. I'm still waiting for admission's decision, hopefully I'll be admitted. I will be moving from California.
In-terms of the program and working, I would say because it's a 16 month NURSING program, it'll be rigorous and will need all your attention/focus. It may be possible to work part-time but I wouldn't recommend it.
In terms of financing your education, your admissions counselor should have discussed with you some options you can take. Fill out the FAFSA application to see if you qualify for a subsidize/unsubsidize loan. On-top of that you can also take out private loans (which I'm planning to do).
My counselor told me I should be hearing back a decision from the admissions committee in 2 weeks, so I'll keep you in the loop if I'll be attending. If accepted, I will for sure go. ABSN isn't for everyone -- I've read a lot of folks from different schools that people drop because they end up failing courses. Honestly, just work hard and stay focused.
What campus will you be attending?
I just received my acceptance call and letter this morning!

NEW UPDATES!! I am dedicated to helping nursing students get a great education and I have some new updates that have been implemented in this horrible program and I want to share it with you all. I have a friend currently in the Spring cohort set to graduate on May 1st. She just told me that they just had a zoom meeting and that Xavier ABSN has changed a policy in the middle of the semester for the last class of nursing school NURS 499 Transition to Professional Nursing. They are changing it to an Exit ATI Exam. The staff said if you do not pass all three ATI proctors for course Nurs 499 with a 70% orabove you do not graduate it doesn't matter if you have an A in the class. Thisis all new! When I graduated Fall 2020we only had to take a predictor for NURS 499 NCLEX practice but it was not a pass/fail or hindered our graduation at all. The smartest guy inour cohort couldn't even pass it. His scores were like 55-60% it is very difficult since there is no way to really study for ATI exams since the teachers have no clue what are on the exams. I got a 40% from what I remember. It was 160 questions. They are basically trying to weed out the people that will not pass NCLEX to save their NCLEX score since it’s so low and not be on probation, which is so upsetting since nothing about an exit exam was implemented in the student handbook to any of the students prior to starting the program. However, Xavier has changed that as of today. I am so sorry that they are doing this. I thought I would give you a heads up so you will not be alarmed when you get to your last semester of the program that you will have to take an exit exam to graduate nursing school when that has NEVER been a policy in Xavier. I would advise everyone to email the director of the Xavier ABSN to complain, because you signed a handbook at the beginning of starting the program and nothing was said about taking an exit exam to graduate nursing school at Xavier they just randomly decided to do so. You all are paying way too much more to let one exam that they pulled out of the wood works to hinder you from graduating. People in the program are currently protesting it!
