I am a pvt duty nurse for a 5 year old girl who is comatose, ventilated and has a G-Tube. She has Neurofibromatosis, Mitochondrial Disease and Leigh's Disease. Her "comatose-ness" is due to a brain tumor caused by the neurofibromatosis. This is my 1st ped's job.
I did purchase a "Documentation for Nurses" course (can always use a brush up) but would like to find more specific courses that would relate to pediatrics and genetic conditions.
Any suggestions would be helpful....if possible please include a link to the site....
Thanks...K

Western Schools, http://www.westernschools.com, has three or more CEU courses on peds. I took three of them together a few years back. I guess they were somewhat useful. Probably more useful would be networking with other peds nurses concerning the specifics of your case. If it were me, I would be pestering the nursing supervisor with any questions I had. Sometimes it is next to impossible to get anything out of other nurses. Some of them just want to run into the home, stay there for their 8 hour shift, and run home again. Some agencies I have worked for have mandatory case conferences. This can help everyone get on the same sheet of music.
