I am thinking about working PRN in psych hospital and looking for psych reference books. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Get a pocket sized, quick reference, paperback DSM-IV-TR. You can get one, used, through Amazon. This will help you understand the doctors' diagnoses more easily.
I like Stephen Stahl's Essential Psychopharmacology for learning about the medications, and to use for looking up medications before giving them. It helped me understand why some confusing medications were being given, and explains how they work.
Your psych nursing textbook should have lots of helpful information in it, for care plans, nursing diagnoses, and interventions with rationales. Chapter-end book lists should give you oodles of references.
I don't have any nursing textbooks anymore. And, if I did, they would by no means be up to date. But, I can go to Amazon and find something I'm sure.
