Suggestions for a Health Fair Topic!

Hi everyone,

My school is having us participate in a health fair in the local area around the college. I need some ideas on a topic. It is a group project so the other students will have to agree to it also. Some of the other groups are setting up stalls educating on Hypertension and How to Eat a Healthy Diet.

The people who will attend the Health fair are mainly college students who live on Campus so I really wanted to pick a topic specific for who will attend the fair. So far I only have 1 idea: Dangers Of Energy Drinks ( what is really in them, what it does to your body and do they even work?)

Any Suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!!

one of my favorites for this sort of thing is sexual abuse awareness. your local rape crisis center or women's shelter would have a lot of info for you on risk factors, resources, help. don't think this is just a women's issue, either. men have a lot to learn about how they can relate to women better, and how they can support a woman who has been assaulted, and how they can use peer pressure to influence others' attitudes towards women and assault.

another is sexually transmitted disease (a big interest in the college-aged = sex). there is so much misinformation out there in the college-aged population. tell them about latency times for infection, how the public health department is required by law to trace your sexual contacts if you are diagnosed (it's reportable by the care provider), and permanent effects of untreated disease, e.g., someone who is not aware of the infection. also, there is a big uptick in stds in the over-50 population, so don't leave that out. so often they don't worry about birth control anymore, but the stds are still there.

another is alcohol awareness (another college issue). there's a plethora of videos out there of people doing time trial tasks with one, two, more drinks in them. sometimes this makes an impression on the kid who thinks nobody can tell that s/he has been drinking.
