Suggestions for good PT job while applying to school?

Published

I work full time now in an unrelated position (am going to nursing as a second career and will quit my full time job once I get into nursing schoool)...I am finishing prereq's for local community college nursing program. Once you finish prereq's and turn in application, the school has about a 2 1/2 year wait to get in :crying2: (they do it based on application date - not grades). This my best option right now for several reasons. But, you can get in to a special slot for students who are employed by a certain hospital (and not have to wait the 2 1/2 yrs). To be eligible through the hospital program, you need to work at least 16 hours a week for 90 days.

Does anyone have any suggestions  on what types of positions I should keep my eyes open for? My preference (and probably my ony real option) would be to work weekend nights or days to get my 16 hours in. Does it make sense to take the CNA class...is it likely I could even get a PT CNA position, or are there better options?

Thanks.

There are many positions in hospitals... I did housekeeping for one, and I actually really enjoyed that job, probably because I worked midnights and did not really have to deal with too many other people, it was peaceful for sure! Also many hospitals need Unit Secretaries, and the night shift is frequently open in my area for those.
