Sugar & Hypoglycemia

Can you give a hypoglycemic pt pure sugar...Like out of the sugar container? I know giving simple sugar is preferable, but am unsure if pure sugar would be ok ?

Pure sugar is a simple sugar.

15 grams followed by a source of complex carb and protein, if patient is not unconscious.

I guess my question really should have been would pure sugar be better than say Orange Juice?

liquids will absorb faster. 4 oz oj, followed by a few crackers and peanut butter. recheck BS.
