I am thinking of possibly pursuing nursing as a career. I was wondering if anyone could share with me some of the prerequisites that I would need to take before entering into the nursing program at Suffolk Community College.

Hi! :)

Suffolk Community College is a small program that is extremely competitive to get into, but has one of the best reputations on Long Island, so it is well worth it if you can get into.

There are two campuses with Suffolk: Selden and Grant, they both have a day program and an evening program. The evening program is smaller and harder to get into, I am not sure on the prereqs for the day program as I am in the evening program.

For the evening program you are required to have Anatomy and PHysiology 1 and 2 finished, Psychology and English (micro is STRONGLY encouraged also). The college says all you really need are the four core classes, but they give preference to those with micro. As I said it is a difficult program to get into, the only guaranteed way to get in is with four A's. It is easier to get into the day program with lower grades, but the night is extremely hard to get into unless you have 4 A's.
