Success story with my DUI

Nurses Criminal

Published

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to make a post to let everyone else know that it isn't over if you have a DUI in your past. I understand that a lot of people get discouraged and think that they will be denied automatically but that is not the case. For years I was really sad because I thought I would have to go through school, get denied, and then work through with a probationary license. My DUI was in 2011. During my last semester in school I was just going through the motion because I thought "whats the point?"

I graduated in December and turned in my application by the end of December. I had 3 letters of recommendations (one from my instructor, 2 from nurses at the local hospital). I wrote about a page and a half of a letter of explanation saying that I was sorry for what I have done and have change my lifestyle since then. I also put these on really fancy papers. Don't know if that makes a difference. I included my arrest report and court records as well. I did not hire a lawyer because all the ones that I have called quoted me at least 7k or higher. One even said you have no chance at getting a regular license but maybe I can get the restrictions reduced. HELL NO!

So this week I got a letter saying that " The board will not pursue any disciplinary action against you at this time. Your conviction history information has been reviewed and returned to the Licensing Unit to continue the licensure process."

So yeah.. Beyond happy!! Good luck everyone else
