Success stories please?

Here's a short and sweet story

I graduated nursing school at some point. I went to work in a hospital and hated it because I was not in the ICU and was working step down. I eventually made some mistakes and had the decision to either be fired or resign, I obviously resigned. During my final seconds there I was essentially told that I shouldn't have become a RN and would have been better off just becoming a paramedic. I was miffed, I thought I'd never come back from this. I was disappointed in myself, I left my parents and myself down and it was perhaps the worst I've ever felt in my life.

I took my time trying to find a job, I went back to my medic gig for a short time, while I applied to other local area hospitals. I finally landed an interview and when I went in to speak with the nurse recruiter I told her exactly what happened at my other job. Why? Because I felt the need to, much to my dismay she called the NM of the unit I was applying for and the NM actually wanted to meet with me because she had several current employees that had similar experiences as me. Some how, she liked me enough to give me a job. Shortly there after I became friends with an ICU RN that I worked with and she stuck her neck out for me and got me an official transfer into ICU. I worked there for a year and 1/2 before I moved to another job at one of the best hospitals in the country in NYC.

I worked down at NYC for another almost 2 years, until I finally applied to CRNA school. And also much to my dismay, I was accepted.

I began going to a local gym to get in shape and I ended up running into the former Clinical coordinator who was in my meeting when i was fired. I said hi and she asked what I was doing. With a lot of pride and my head high I said well I worked at X hospital in their ICU shortly after I left, I now currently work at Y hospital and I am going to CRNA school in the summer. I'm not gonna lie when I said it, I said it with a kind of F-U attitude because These people told me essentially that I'm a failure and that I should have never became a RN.

I came from losing my first job in 3 months, to working at one of the best hospitals in the country to getting into CRNA school. It may seem impossible, for me it did. I never thought I'd recover from what happend when I lost my job, but I did, and I'm a better person and a better nurse because of it.

Wow incredible story! Especially the part about running into your old clinical manager and giving her the business. I hope I'm as fortunate to be in your position in some time. Thanks for sharing!
