We recently discharged a pt with chillbains (sp?) and the discharge orders stated to avoid nicotine and caffeine for the next several days.
Anybody know the rationale behind this? Best I can figure is that either/both could cause vasoconstriction, but that's just a shot in the dark.

Your absolutely right. Chillbains affects circulation and nicotine and cigs can only affect it more do to the vasoconstriction effects.
