I am currently have a semester and half left and I will be graduating with a BSN. I haven't been the best at studying and tests are not my strong point. Does anyone have any ideas on how to study effectively?

Hi, I am a fairly recent grad from nursing school, and would be happy to help in anyway I can with suggestions. I graduated from an accelerated BSN program, and know how challenging it can be to learn all of that information in such a relatively short period of time. But first, why don't you start by telling me what you currently do when you study. What are your study habits? What do you particularly find challenging? It is an issue of focusing? Time management? or specifically test-taking issues? Any particular areas that you find more challenging like Pharm or Patho? Any info you can provide would help to best give some advice.

First off, congratulations for making it thus far!
Studying
-Read chapters before lecture
-Take notes while reading
-After studying, take time off from the material you have read so your brain can process all the info you have read.
-After your brain has had a break, review, review, review and then practice nclex questions on material to check your grasp of the material.
-Rest( I know this is easier said than done,so, if possible, take naps if you plan to stay up all night studying)
-Explain important aspects of what you have read at a study group or with a classmate or...to yourself :)
Lecture
-Pay attention in lecture
-Take notes during lecture
-If you have read the material before class, you should have questions and be able to answer questions asked by the professor.
Stay interested in what your learning!
