Well right now I'm stuck on Lab values and knowing the normal ranges and what I'm doing is wrting them down over and over again giving myself test. Example:
Sodium 135-145
Chloride 98-107
Patassium 3.5-5.1
Dilantin 10-20
Magnesium 1.6-2.6
Fasting Blood Sugar 70-110
Phosporus 22-29
See how about I'm learning a little at a time see thats all I remember so far
What does everyone think about how i'm studying these?

I was wondering the same thing. I have to commute an hour each day so as i drive i try to review them in my head. I too was wondering if there was an easier way than just pure memorization. Let me know if you get any better ideas concerning learning these values.

Some people didnt get it but i thought it helped. If you want to find the thread again, search lab values on the top right hand side of the screen and it is the very last hit on the first page. Hope this helps! :wink2:

hi there, did you do the flashcards?
My way of memorizing those numbers is thru repetition. on my 1/4 colorful flashcard on the front would say "what is the normal value of ... "and on the back would be the answer. Everyday right after waking up, i try to quiz myself at least 3 questions from the flashcards, and just before sleeping i quiz myself with 3 flashcards. Everyday i can memorize 6 lab values! The challenge would be is, how long I can retain them, and that is why i made those tiny flashcards, for repetition.
goodluck

They need to make an audio studying version for people who travel a lot! I drove from South Dakota and would have loved to listen to a review that asked me questions while driving!

You are doing just fine. In my part i make flashcards stating the name of the Med or electrolyte, then at the back i wrote the normal value. Everynyt, i memorize 10, then the next day i will review the previously memorized normal values and add another 10. this way i won't be able to forget it till the examination day. and it really helps me. it comes handy too.
I don't have a test date yet!!!!!!!!!!!! Why any suggestions?

hello I wished the same thing. what I did was get me a voice recorder with built in speakers, I would record what i needed to learn example ask questions like what is the normal lab value then wait a minute then answer. It is like listening to the radio on the way home except you are reviewing. I found if you have an IPOD, you can buy the attachment that records ur voice, and car adaptor, make it easy to listen to on the drive home or work. Also I use it to record lectures, and replay it when I missed something.hope that was helpfull.
