Studying For The Teas

Well I am 27 years old, and on my way out of the Navy. I spend 10 years in the navy and need a change in career, and am finally on the verge of doing something I am truly excited and motivated about.

I am going to apply to attend Maric College in San Diego, CA. It seems like a quick and fast tracked program.

I am about to start studying for the TEAS. Keep in mind that I graduated HS 10 years ago. Math, Science, and English werent my strongest subjects, and I am going to have to study really hard this next month, because I plan on taking the test in 1 month. I ordered the ATI study guide.

So with all of that said, I think I am on the right path; however, I am open for a lot of ideas. Can anyone help me get on the right path of what to expect with this exam???? Thanks

There are several TEAS posts here, so you might do a search. When I took it, I was actually surprised that it wasn't so bad. I got a 92.4. It was a lot of general info type stuff for the reading and language components. If you can read and comprehend what you read and know your grammar, you'll be fine. The math was a little harder, but nothing above very basic algebra. I was surprised that there was physics on the science portion! It's been 25 years since I had physics and I didn't care then about the force required to push a box up a hill. I certainly don't care now! :lol2: Have you taken ANP or chemistry? There were several anatomy and chemistry questions on mine. I think it would have been hard to pass that part without taking those classes unless I had some knowledge base from some other source.

Best of luck and let us know how you do!

Good luck

Study the study guide inside and out!

also get your basic math down so you can do it fast, this is everyones down fall, you are not given much time on the math portion. The problems are all very detailed a lot of simple arrthmitic for each problem and no calculator allowed. The quicker you can do this the better!

I graduated highschool over 20 years ago and did great on the TEAS, I used the study guide and dit it over and over again.

Specializes in Emergency.

I used the TEAS study guide and it really helped me. It had been 6 years since I had basic science and math and I found that with my upper level science and math, I kinda forgot the simple stuff.

I read a tip on these boards and that is to know the ounces/cups/pints/quarts/gallons conversions. It showed up on my exam and I was very thankful to have had that tip, as I always (and still do) have problems with that.
