Studying for boards...

Published

Hi everyone. I started studying for the NCLEX about a week ago and I feel like I don't know anything. I'm averging less than 75% on most tests, not all, but enough to make me stressed. I also feel like I don't know where to focus, even though I have plenty of places to start. Will the information start coming back to me soon? Is this common? Thanks for any help.

When are you taking boards? I have been studying for about a month now and am taking them in one week. I have felt the same way though, missing alot of questions, not remembering certain things. But there are so many questions that could possibly be on boards that it's impossible to know everything. Try to focus on weak areas and if you can at least narrow it down to two answers, you're in good shape. I have found that the longer I study, the more things have been coming back to me and am actually surprised at how much I do know. Good luck, keep studying and tell yourself that you WILL pass.

remember, this test is not graded on a 100% scale like the ones you might have had in school. The questions are weighted, so some will have more value than others. In reality, you only need to answer about 50% correctly, but that could vary depending on the value of each question presented. The trick now is to focus on weak areas. Do you understand the question being asked? Do you spot the distracters and stems of the question?

I should be taking them in mid-September. I just sent my app. to the state last week. Thank you very much for the advice, that does make me feel better. Good luck on your test, you sound like you'll do great. You'll be a :nurse:before you know it.

Yeah, I think I understand the questions okay, I guess I'm just more overwhelmed than I thought I'd be. But I know I'll be fine. Thanks.
