I have been reading around on here, and it seems like this is the way to go as far as studying for the exams for excelsior? It seems cheaper than buying books...Anyone have any advice for me? I am just brand new starting out at this, just starting to study for the very first nursing exam, and I feel a little lost. Any studying advice, where to buy things, etc would be very much appreciated!!! :)

For the exams, I printed out the content guides(which is free) from Excelsior's website. The content guides will tell you what to study for. For studying, I used study group 101, lisa arends notes, and Excelsior's practice tests--which is worth every dollar. I bought a used Fundamentals book from Half-priced Bookstore. With those combined resources, I passed all of the exams without repeats.

You can get as few or as many study resources as you care to. Just enough to get the exam over with, or you can buy a nice new book for your professional library. I suggest you take down the list of suggested references from the EC site or in one of the study guides and take it to a library. Check the books out for free. If the library doesn't have the book, ask them to do an interlibrary loan for you. This way you can save a lot of money and buy the books you really want for your professional library when you have the money. Other than that, you can use only the SG101 notes or L. Arends notes and still pass the tests. Another resource is http://www.flashcardexchange.com. Some people spend time googling subjects on the internet too. Just as long as you learn it!
