I am a newly enrolled student at Excelsior College and i am looking for some advice on how to effectively study for the 8 exams for the ADN Nursing Program. I have the reading assignments but am not much of a book reader (overwhelming). I just want to be productive with my time and be well prepared before attempting the first exam. Does anyone have any advice for me....it would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks :-)

I took a test every three - four weeks. I printed the study guide off Excelsior website and went off of that. Keep it simple, as most of the tests are only 160 questions or so, and it's impossible to be asked questions on everything listed in the several recommended reading textbook list.

If you aren't much of a reader this could be a long journey for you. at $275 a pop for each exam you don't want to go in unprepared. I have used SG101 study material and Saunders NCLEX review for my studying and I usuall studied for a week to ten days and then tested. I managed As and Bs for the first seven nursing theory exams. I failed LS3 and I wasn't exactly comfortable with the Bs I got in LS1 and LS2 so I would recommend the textbooks when you get to the LS exams, otherwise I would suggest the material I mentioned. Also, if you don't like reading I would suggest getting Transitions out of the way first because it will be a challenge for you....very dry and boring nursing history stuff. Finally, one last piece of advice, if you are better at visual learning you could always go to RNBridgeProgram.com I haven't used them personally but from what I gather it's videos that guide you through each Excelsior exam content rather than reading. I hope this helps.

I am beginning Life Span 3 if any one can offer advice on this exam it would be appreciated. Study materials that are good to use or any direction on where to focus. Some of it seems like repeat info from previous exams. You can send me suggestions to my email. [email protected] thanks lisa
