Anyone ever have a class where the class notes don't coincide with the text? Im struggling here. The instructor says study everything, but seriously? how do you synthesize the book and the class notes and what do you focus on?? What the instructor has put in the notes or what the book is saying?

When I faced a problem similar to this I sought out help from an upperclassmen. Often times they will have figured out what material will show up on an exam and what doesn't. In some cases there is even methods for studying for certain instructors that will be beneficial.

If this is a new instructor, schedule a meeting with her and voice your concerns about the disparity of her teaching notes and the text. Remember, nursing practice does change and so do the ways it is taught.

have you taken any exams from this teacher? if so look at what on the prior test. when i was in nursing school the teachers always told us that what was in the book was the correct answer. nursing school is about your ability to make correct decisions not a&p. this was the hardest concept for me to get. when you are learning about specific dx study careplans about that dx. this helped me a lot. good luck!
