I am a new nursing student! I just joined the student nurses association and was wondering what exactly is involved! I've tried to ask fellow students and graduated students and all they have said is that they just have meetings about things they can plan and it looks good on your resume, but there has to be more to it than that!! Anyone know about this?

depends on the people in your chapter. Some do rallys around test time, others sell candy, etc to provide something the class needs or wants. We sold candy and raised enough to have a nice pinning ceremony then split the remainder with all the class. Everyone got about $50 each!

Good for you for joining and getting involved! I am VP of my college's SNA. We hold meetings twice/month, have guest speakers (nurses from all different specialties), organize fundraisers for pinning, charities, etc., and act as mentors to upcoming/new nursing students. We also organize senior events (senior pictures, set up for pinning ceremonies, etc.) which includes obtaining/maintaining contracts for the events. We have a budget to work with to help support our events, etc.
Some students from SNA are also on the Student Community Government, Student Advisory, and Student Outcomes committees.
It's a great way to get involved in your school and program. And, yes, it does look great on your resume!
**Edited to add-- you will only perform these duties if you're elected as an officer (Pres, VP, Secretary, etc) of SNA. Anyone can join and participate in the meetings, though.
