students applying at LBCC for spring 08

Published

Basically, the chances are VERY slim of getting in unless you got straight A's in all pre-reqs. For the spring semester there was less spots available than usual (something to do with memorial not taking 30 students I think?) and about half of the spots available went to 4.0 students which is amazing... hearing that only 2 of the people applying for the previous semester had 4.0's.

Can't say im not a bit disappointed that my 3 B's didnt have a chance, but its not unfair or anything... congrats to everyones hard work. =)

Im thinking of retaking Anat cause I know I can get an A in it and re-apply for the following semester. And in the meantime I will have the time to become a CNA and/or take Phlebotomy.

Anyone else have a back-up plan for non-acceptance? What other schools are you guys applying to?

sounds like a competitive class.

just wondering, did you officially get a rejection letter? or just expecting the worst?

i'm guaranteed a spot at another cc. pretty sure i wont take it tho.

if i dont get into lbcc (well, actually even if i do get in) i'm just going to evaluate career options. been having doubts lately about whether adn program or nursing in general is the right choice for me. (but that's another topic...)

Hey Strawberry - where did you get your information? I'm just curious, and waiting as well. I heard a 'rumor' that letters weren't going out until this week (3rd week of September). Thanks for any information you can pass!!!

Heyy..I go to LBCC! I'm only doing pre-reqs though! I'm having a hard time with MAth 110...but trying to bring my grade up!!

I'm planning to apply at other schools too when the time comes..Cypress, Goldenwest...even College of the desert!!

I would LOVE to meet fellow students at the school! I don't know too many ppl!! Please email me! [email protected]

Sammygrl,

Are you taking math 110 or math 110a and 110b? It may be easier if you take them separate instead of trying to take it all in one semester. Just a thought.

I don't have a lot of time away from school and work for socializing, all my time is filled with studying. What other classes are you taking? Who is your math teacher? I took Caroline Sabol for math 110, she was pretty cool.

Good luck!

I got in and didn't have a 4.0. just saying.

to Vivasmom,

Can I ask if you were accepted to the Spring 08 term? And if so, what was your science gpa? I'm just curious. I had all B's in my science classes (no repeats or withdrawls) and I am guessing that that makes my science gpa a 3.0.

Also, did you go to LBCC? Did you have any of the other general eds completed? Was this your first time applying?

Sorry for all the questions, I know that spots are limited and I'm just trying to see if I should bother to try for Fall 08 or move on to another school.

Thanks - Robin (Grumpygs)

Hi Robin-

I'll try to PM you.

My goodness... So the 30 spots do make a difference... I am really nervous now. I am now taking anatomy and microbiology... I did bad on my first 2 midterms of anatomy... I really have to work hard!!

So any news about the lowest GPA they take for spring 08?

I don't know what the lowest Gpa that they accepted was. I can only assume it was slightly higher (or more) than 3.2?

Robin....I just spoke with a girl in my math class that also didn't get accepted into the Spring program. I asked her why...she got all B's and her gpa was 3.0, the nursing dep said that since there was soo many 4.0's this time...they cut the var at 3.7...so shes applying for next fall semester....

Now that's making me think and do a lot of things better!

I don't go to LBCC, but I know the average GPA for acceptance to our program at UVU (in Utah) for the last 3 semesters has been around 3.8 or 3.9...With my current 3.6, I was told I would not be considered a competitive applicant, even though several of my classes were higher level than required (Calc instead of Algebra, Nutrition and Pharmacology in the disease process instead of basic nutrition)...So, I'm stuck taking 5 classes next semester instead of 2 just to have a prayer of getting in for the fall...

I feel your pain. Good Luck to all of you!
