Hi! Wanted to start a thread for those who were accepted into the WCU CRNA-DNP program starting in May 2019. So excited to start this journey with all of you!!!

Congratulations on your acceptance into WCU! I'm planning to apply next year for the class starting in May 2020. WCU is my #1 school and I wanted to see if you had any suggestions or advice...how to stand out in the application/interview tips. Thank you and good luck!

Congrats! I recently accepted my offer and will definitely be joining you at Western Carolina! I'll be heading down to Asheville from Virginia and I could not be more excited about it. Are you from the area or have any advice about relocating? And I haven't been on the book in years, but maybe we should put a group together before our cohort starts.

Mnt11, I'd recommend just figuring out where you stand (background, ICU experience, education, etc.) and address any potential weak areas. Things that come to mind are possibly retaking a course, taking a graduate course, further distinguishing yourself in the ICU, certifications, practice your interview skills, know your patient population(s) and interventions, brush up on meds/skills, etc. Lastly, stay motivated-good luck!

That's awesome! Yeah I'd really like to start some kind of page so that we can all connect before starting! I'm from Charlotte, NC so I will be moving in August and searching for a place to live over the summer. I'm sure a lot of us are moving so we can help each other out. Wondering if they are going to plan something for us all to meet prior to starting?

It sounded like there will be some orientation details to come in the spring with our welcome packets. I'd have to imagine it'll probably be immediately before the start of our fall semester.

I'm not sure if you've already found it, but there's some useful info already on WCU's Bb. And let me know if you start up a group! I'd love to share some of the resources that I've already found online.

Howdy, y'all! I'm starting in 2019 as well and planning on moving from Atlanta. Do you guys have the GroupMe app? I believe it's free, and it could be a good way to get everyone in touch. Any thoughts?

I've never used it, but I'm messing around with it now...lol. So I've went ahead and just created a group for us, but I'm trying to think of the best way to invite everyone. I can't imagine anyone will have a problem with sending out the link by just replying all to the welcome e-mail, right?

Yeah I think that would be fine!!

Hey I was wondering if anyone had a second to talk about their experience at WCU? If you feel like you're getting enough clinical experience with lines and cases? How is the trauma experience? Any information is appreciated!!

It looks like last year you guys were notified really quickly of acceptance. Any inside knowledge if that will happen again?
