Didn't you have to take Chemistry to become an RN?

While there are many courses you can CLEP, I wouldn't recommend CLEPing these two. I did not CLEP any physical science courses. I did CLEP many of the social sciences, history, etc, and in my experience the CLEP tests were very superficial.

I would recommend taking a high-level Chemistry and Physics course that will give you a good grounding in the basics so you are not playing catch-up later when you are expected to know more advanced stuff. By CLEPing you will not really be exposed to the full scope of these topics that you will need to know to really understand medication interactions, etc.

No chemistry is not required. Only micro and a&p as far as science. I'm doing excelsiors bridge lpn-rn program. Theres transition programs to bsn with no chemistry as well. Yes I just found out organic chem is not clepable. I think I will clep general chem and from there self study when I can until I am able to take organic chem and physics too. I can't attend school right now not even one course with the exception of online courses. As far as medical interactions I don't mind self studying all these things. Does all this sound crazy? ? It is better than nothing though

Check with your schools. Yes, you can use the CLEP to place out of some Chem classes. At my school, you need a year of a higher lever of Chem just to take Orgo. You can take the CLEP for Chem 101 and 102, but you still need Chem 111 and 112 to take Orgo where I go to school.
