application questions

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hello, I am new to this thread so bare with me if I ask a stupid question. I will be receiving my BSN in the this spring 2011. I am applying to schools, and one wants a personal narrative. I was just wondering what type of information do schools look for. I have a few ideas of what I think I should include. Also, when listing your experience on your resume, do you say that you are comfortable with hemodynamics, or do you list the type of equipment, such as the company name of balloon pumps, or ventilators, that you have worked with. I guess my general question is what is the best way to word that you care for the most critical or sickest patients in your unit. Does anyone know of any good nursing resume websites, that can help with writing a good strong resume. I have a resume for my nursing experience, but I think this should be a little different. Any help or feedback will be much appreciated, thanks for reading.

The personal narrative is how you sell yourself to that adcom. I compared it to a cover letter that tells the story of you and why you want to be a crna. why you choose that school? What are your goals? Why they should choose you, good traits about you. Various positions such as charge nurse and preceptor. What commitees have you been on. I believe that you should list the diffierent type of equipment you are experience with, on your resume maybe under responsibilities or duties for each job. GOOD LUCK

Thanks for the reply, all good points taken, thank you again.
