Student Nursing Organizations...

Nursing Students General Students

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering about the different nursing organizations people have in their schools. At our school, we have the Student Nursing Organization (SNO for short). It is mandatory organization and students have to do three meetings/activities per semester. We have done such things like blood drives, health fairs, awareness booths for everyone on campus, raised money for charities, etc. Anything that gets us out into the community and doing something. I just thought if this is like anything anyone has at their school? And if so, I would love to hear about any of the events your organization has done. Maybe we could throw around some different ideas for events?

I think that would be great!

I have never heard of SNO -- is that an organization your school came up with or is it nationwide? I think the most common nationwide student nurse organization is Student Nurses Association (SNA). SNA is recognizable through most of the country.

SNA is not mandatory at our school but we strongly recommend it to students. SNA at our school cost $20 and that allows you to be an SNA member throughout the entirety of nursing school. I am the VP for my class and we try to do all types of community events. This semester we are going to try and tackle raising money to help set off the costs for deaf children who attend summer camps around our state.
