Student Nurses' Association Bulletin Board Ideas

Hi everyone! I am the president of our student nurses' assoc. and I am in charge of developing ideas for our bulletin board in the college cafeteria. I was hoping that maybe someone on these boards has seen some really neat boards or has any ideas for setting up/decorating their boards.

I do have some help from my VP of the assoc and we have got a few ideas- we have gotten medical-themed fabric as our background, blue border w/black lettering. We had also thought of taking a stethoscope, empty I.V. bag, syringes (w/o the needle, of course) and attaching them to the board (our pharm teachers actually had those on their boards).

We had thought about just using "Join WANS" (Wallace Assoc. of Stundent Nurses), "Be A Nurse" (something simple for new students who might not have thought about nursing as a major), or even "Dare To Care" the Johnson & Johnson theme.

I was just wondering if anyone had any other good ideas that we might borrow. Thanks for the input!

with patriotism being on people's minds these days you might want to do a board that features nurses serving in the military. you might be able to get some photographs of military nurses at work from one of the nurse corps, recruiters or military public relations office to use.

you might also do a "nurses in books" kind of theme. you may not be able to get actual book covers of the older serial novels, but you might be able to recreate them well enough for a poster.

also, i clearly remember candy stripers from my childhood. perhaps a pink and white striped background with some nurses caps stapled to the top. a nurses cap can be easily made out of white paper. you know, in the old days, nurses caps were unique to their schools. i used to see nurses with all kinds of different caps and different colored stripes on them in various patterns. maybe an old "before" picture (a nurse from 1900) next to a newer "after" picture (a nurse of today) would get some attention!

another idea is to collect nursing cartoons and jokes and post them on the bulletin board. it will draw people to the board to read them. you can also include information about the nursing program interspersed with the cartoons.
