As we enjoy the last couple of days vacation before we head back to the new fall semester, I just have a couple questions?
1) Is there a student nurse association/membership that includes LPNs and/or is only for LPNs? I have went to the National Student Nurse Association and it states that RN programs, Diploma and RN-BSN programs are eligible, nothing about LPNs.
See, I am trying to start a nursing club for my LPN students. They are from an area covered in poverty. Most of them, have never been a member of a positive organization and given a chance to show leadership skills. I just want to put together a club that has meetings twice a month, fundraisers for pinning, charities and class functions, nursing activities such as putting together a health fair, etc. Any ideas, suggestions or comments?
Thanks,
Brandie

hello there,
I will be atrting LPN school this coming monday, here in NC.
Our instructor handed us a paper during registration
for the NFLPN( National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses, INc
they let students join for a $ 25.00 fee. Hope this helps, i believe this is for state and national affiliation

Our PN students are required to join the Arkansas Licensed Practical Nurses Association. here is their website. http://arkansaslpna.org/index.html
The student membership is $10 and it is covered in our PN fees the college charges.
You could email one of the members and ask about national organizations.
ALPNA has 2 conventions a year, one in fall and one in spring. The spring convention is a competition for PN students. They test in pharmacology, medical terminology, A&P, nutrition, CPR, nursing skills, and then we had a talent show. It is a great time for the students.
