Student loan repayment from hospitals in SW Ohio???

I will be graduating in December and am needing to find a hospital who will help pay off my student loans.

Kettering Hospital will pay 9K for a 3 year contract. Miami Valley Hospital will pay 10K for a 2 year contract. These offers are extremely disappointing!!! I was thinking that hospitals were offering more to new graduates. Does anybody know of a hospital (or anywhere else) in the area that might be offering more? I'm going to have like 40K in debt when I get out and 9 & 10K, although it will help, just isn't going to cut it. :o

Thanks in advance for your assitance!!!

Those are pretty good deals. Most hospitals have some form of repayment, but they are not going to be much higher than what you have found. Good Luck!

Thanks for your reply!

A fellow nursing student knew somebody who recently received a 30K sign on bonus from Miami Valley Hospital. So I was really hoping that I would be able to find something similar. I'll live if I cannot, but there is a big difference between 10k and 30k!!! :uhoh3: But no matter what I am able to find...I'll appreciate any help that I can find to pay off my student loans!!! :uhoh21:

FYI, you may want to check and see what program that person was enrolled in. MVH has a deal with Wright State's accelerated program (BEACON) and offers large stipends (I guess you could call it a signon bonus) to students in that program in exchange for work time. It used to be 30K for 3 years, now it's 20K for 2 years. You also have to sign an agreement not to work while you're in school.

MVH's loan repayment program is the best in the area that I have heard of. Since most of the hospitals in Dayton are either owned by MVH or Kettering I don't know if you'd be able to find a better deal. Good luck, though!

Have you talked with your school's financial resource office? There is some sort of program for loan repayment for working in areas that are underserved. I do not have the particulars but maybe they could be helpful with information.

Good luck. I agree that the loan repayment programs you mentioned seem generous to most of us.

Hey Dearheart,

I am in the same boat, looking for a place to work possibly in Ohio (as a last resort before moving back to California), where some hospital or agency will help to pay off serious debt. I have a BA from OSU and associates degree in nursing. Did you or anyone find a hospital that offers serious loan repayment reimbursement or some sort of program. My school does not mention or know "undeserved areas." As far as I am concerned, most of Southwestern and Southeastern OHio is pretty much undeserved, with lots of people needing medical help and health assistance, yet hospitals in the large city areas and small towns do not offer very much for tuition reimbursement. What gives?;)

Miami Valley does not offer more than 10k for 2 years with no sign on bonus. Plus their human resource lady was pretty rude! will not go back again!

She talked to me like I was building a dam that had to be finished a following morning, did not treat me like a nurse, but a waitress. Enough, I said. I would never say anything like that, but with 2 degrees and experience in a hospital 3 years... I cannot be talked to like I just graduated high school.

thanks

God Bless for any input,

Very disheartened after that interview:zzzzz

However on a lighter note the Indian Reservations are hiring for their local clinic across US offering 20 000 per year of service of loan repayment.

Thank you,

PS Not in OHio:heartbeat

to DEB 123J Dearheart what have you decided about the student loan mess? I went to Miami Valley and was out the door in 4 minutes. I cannot understand the 10k repayment with no sign on bonus. It is pure exploitation, sorry but that's how I feel. . . of course I lived in Northern CA half of my life. Still if I accept the job here and pay on student loans, I am going to be living like a tech. Why why why:banghead::redbeathe and I love the community in Southern Ohio. What gives?

Hey PACIFICWHALES!

I was wondering if you had any information on the Indian Reservations you mentioned? Like which ones were offering the 20k/yr.

Any information would be helpful!

Thank you!

Does anyone know if these amounts apply to most hospitals in SW Ohio, or are they mostly specific to the Dayton area? I'm looking to work at one of the new hospitals in the West Chester area after I graduate, and I was just wondering if I would get around the same offer? Thanks!
