Student Loan question...

Nursing Students General Students

OK,

I am not a full time student at the present time. I am only taking A+P2 this semester, and took A+P1 last semester. After I finish A+P2, I am going to take the ACT. That is the only prereq's for the nursing program at my community college. When should I apply for student loans? After acceptance into the program "Which could be a while." or now. I did my FaFsA thing over the internet, and they gave me a pail grant for $2,025, but since I was less than part time I got 25% of that, but it did pay for my tuition, and books. Also what can you use your student loans on? Can you only buy books, and pay for tuition, or are these loans designed to help you make it financially, while going to school full time. Anybody have some websites on this? If I get accepted into the nursing program, I am seriously going to need some student loans. I am a male, married, working full time as a residential painter, have 1 step child, "Well let's just say child, because saying step child sometimes makes me feel like I am taking away from him, if you know what I mean." pay for rent, utilities, food, the whole works. I make less than $19,000 a year, and my wife makes less than that working for minimum wage at a Christian daycare, but she loves her job. "They should seriously pay day-care workers more." So I believe I would qualify for a student loan, but I just don't know how to go about doing it. My financial aid department is a little cloudy on the subject, and can not satisfy my interest. After I did my FaFsA thing over the internet I got back a score of 0000. When I asked about the score they told me that any score below 3500 would qualify for some type of financial aid, and that my score was the best you could get, as far as receiving the most aid possible. Thank you for any help in advance, and God bless ya ll.:)

The score you get at the end is the amount they believe you will be able contribute to your bill that year and with 00, that means you should be eligible for the full grant amount this year. hth's

Depends on the loan. Most you can just use for whatever. Some however, must be used only for tuition. Make an appointment with the financial aide officer at your school. There are many many opportunities out there- I got a state scholarship for 10K a year. All I had to do to pay it back was to work anywhere in the state full time for the amount of years I had gotten the loan. So essentially the state gave me about 30K for my education. I would have never heard of this scholarship without going to the financial aid office...

Yeah that is what I need to do. Set up an appointment, and vigorously go over it with a financial aid person. Maybe I will write some important questions down so that I do not forget them. Thank you all for the info.
