I am filling out a physical assessment of a pt. with urinary stress incontinence. It has a section for us to list "textbook s/s of medical diagnosis". The only sign I can find of incontinence is leakage while coughing, laughing, sneezing, exercise, stand up, or lift something heavy. I just feel as if this isn't enough, maybe I'm just over analyzing it, but I was wanting to check in here and see what ya'll thought about it. Thanks for any help!

I may be mistaken but I worked for a urologist before and I think I remember the inability to hold your urine when your bladder is full. Do a literature search on stress incontinence or just google it.
Thanks, I did some googling and answered it to the best of my abilities. I'm going to talk with my instructor in the morning and see if she has anything that should be added to it.

stress urinary incontinence is actually a nursing diagnosis as well. the definition of this diagnosis (nursing problem) is sudden leakage of urine with activities that increase intra-abdominal pressure. the defining characteristics (signs and symptoms) that nanda lists for it are as follows (page 94, nanda international nursing diagnoses: definitions and classifications 2009-2011):
Thanks Daytonite, you're awesome! I always see all the other posts you do helping students a lot and I appreciate you taking the time to look over that for me. It means a lot!
