Hey all,

I have been working as a travel nurse in nyc for a few months or so and recently the hospital i'm

working at has become extremely stressful and i have a good amount weeks left in my contract and i'm freaking out.

The hospital is extremely busy all the time, the work load is very high especially for the travel nurses and there is very little

support from the staff. And my nerves have had it they are just about fried. Some nights are worse then others depending on

who is in charge..... Breaks? not on this floor....I mean some nights i could not have worked any harder and i mean that. I work on a busy high volume high turn around floor.....

I can't wait until this contract is over really. I need to start doing activities on my days off again to blow off steam and to just start

enjoying my time off and making the best of my time working........I don't know......I am going to look for something new in the spring hell or high water.......

You know it's kinda funny i feel a little better now that i have written this stuff down...anyways

Has anyone ever been in similar situations and what did u do to cope?

thx everyone....

The best thing you can do in this situation is to get a calendar and mark off each shift with a big red "X". Do some really nice things for yourself on days off - a spa day with a great massage really helps! Get friends to come visit, or call them on the phone to vent. Keep reminding yourself that it is only for a set period and then you get to walk away- I keep thinking how good the place will look in my rearview mirror!

Hang in there - I have only 2 more shifts and I get to tear up the calendar with the big red "X's"!
