Hi everyone!! I decided I should start a thread for this year’s applicants so we can keep each other updated and answer questions.
I applied last year as well and was waitlisted, so if you have any questions I’d be happy to help!
Good luck everyone!!
@Centella Hi, it’s very impressive your background and excellent grades. I wish I have that GPA. I understand your pain. It’s very discouraging not knowing the reasons. I feel that their decision doesn’t have anything to do with anything wrong with you. Most likely is the amount of applicants and that all of them are as great as you are. It’s probably rough for the nursing committee to decide who is in or not. My advice, ...if you really want to become a nurse and nursing is your passion, don’t focus just to get admitted to Stony Brook University Nursing Program. There are other schools out there in Suffolk county and Nassau that have excellent programs as STONY BROOK. Also, there are different routes to become a RN. You can have a non nursing bachelor and get in into associates RN program and finish your BSN online while already possessing a RN license. I know STONY BROOK is one of the best out there but like I said, if your passion is NuRsing apply everywhere and as soon you get accepted in one nursing program push forward to get it done. All SUNYs school and private schools here in Long Island have excellent programs. Good luck and keep trying.
If you are waitlisted, the nursing school says you can get a call at any time right up until the day classes begin....Also they won’t give out any info as to where you are on the waitlist.... Frustrating
I only know this because I spoke with her recently regarding the ABSN class. I was waitlisted there prior to being accepted to the BSN for Fall 2020.
good luck to those waiting

@Centella I have basically the same exact stats as you, I honestly think that there's so many people and some people just get overlooked. It's not fair and doesn't make sense but thats the only thing I can think of that it would be. I know you will go on to be a great nurse either way! Did you apply to LIU? they have similar pre reqs and thats one of the schools I applied to as well.
