STNA/CNA positions

Hello everyone,

I am going to possibly be relocating to Minnesota (either Roseau or Medina) in a few weeks. How is the market for STNA/CNA's?

Wow. Two opposite ends of the state....

I know the market for RNs in the twin cities is rough. Many of my graduating class doesn't have jobs yet, even at hospitals we did our clinical rotations at.

Are you an ADN or BSN?

Bsn. I actually went to Wisconsin because it was easier to find a job here than where I did clinical.

Oh wow, now I'm nervous! I knew it was hard for ADN's because of the hospitals going for BSN's. I'm starting my BSN this fall.

Yep. Allina, Regions, HCMC and St. Joe's are pretty much out. Well, they say BSN preferred, but it's nearly impossible for an ADN nurse to get in. I believe that Allina is hiring few, if any new grads this year.

I would recommend starting the job search early. My last semester, I was spending as much time applying for jobs as I did on schoolwork. The planning paid off, because I was able to be lucky enough to land a great ICU job at a great hospital.

I'm in the North St Paul area and have been getting interviews for CNA positions even without experience as a CNA (I do have DSP/PCA). This is at LTC facilities though. One called them resident assistants, but they only hire CNAs and it is a CNA position in description.

Yeah I found out I'm going to be living in Roseau. I saw that there is only one medical center but that they have a few open positions, one being a nursing assistance with or without certification. Hopefully I can get it because I'm not sure where else I would be able to get in, haha. Not sure if Warroad has a medical center or LTC facility but I've been meaning to look into that as well.
