I felt ur pain before I started working.....I was bored and broke. Now I have been working a little more than a month.......I have 5 patients on a med/tele unit and I would KILL to have some free time! True, I am getting faster and better at time management and making money, but I am going through reality shocks..........it aint like it was in school. I come home crying sometimes and wanting to quit. Nursing is so underpaid for the stresses of the job, I am constantly fearful that I will do something and lose my license (which I havent gotten yet, took NCLEX yesterday). I am just.....ready to go work elsewhere. Not to rain on ur parade............but just enjoy ur time off and try to make time for fun when u start working.....because it's really rough. I like caring for patients but..........this job can be overwhelming.
Wow. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I know i'm going to wish for freedom once I start working, but at this point in time I am just so bored. I wish you the best and it sounds like you are already improving and growing as a nurse. Keep up the good work. (If you are looking for something to help relieve stress, facials and pedicures work great for me).
Oh, and you didn't rain on a parade, just a pity party
yep, I'm going stir crazy & I don't graduate until 26 AUG! I'm going stir crazy b/c I am currently laid up with a bum ankle (bad sprain 2w ago, dumb accident, tripped in the house & it gave out) & no wt bearing until Aug 1! = No CLINICALS allowed! AGGGRRRR! I asked out using a wheelchair but was told "no." & was told that I can't be a "safe nurse" if my patient were to need turning or fell. I can't even work in my ortho boot!
My NM is on vacation or I'd be hanging out with her at least 1d this week. Oh well, I am attempting to study more, get ahead of classwk & designing my leadership project. But this free time has made it so I am f***off more than I should be.
I am going to get a 2nd opinion! I have 7 clinicals to complete my rotation & have ben told I will be able to "participate" in pinning, & get an incomplete, & if need be I will complete my rotation in SEPT. I hate this!
This all = no diploma, delayed NCLEX testing & lost time job searching.
I need to stop my complaining... it could be a lot worse, I know, but I am STILL GOING OTTA MY MIND!
Thanks for letting me vent
Congrats & Good Luck!

Anyone else going stir crazy waiting to start working?
I'm in the middle of my job search and I'm getting really impatient. I have been either in school, working, or both my whole life.
Free time + no money = no fun
Just thought I'd vent. Feel free to join me. Misery loves company.
