Stethoscopes

Published

Hey, can anyone recommend a really good stethoscope? Maybe in the $100 range? I'm starting Clinicals in Jan and wanted to get a jump on it. Thanks!

I love my sprague. The best thing about it is that you can hand it to a kid to teach him/her about listening (after proper cleaning) and not worry about something breaking and being expensive to replace... I find that in home care the stethoscope is the best teaching tool and if I have something too pricey, I'm reluctant to share...

I had a littman master classic II, but I wasnt real found of it. I got the Littman Cardiology III my sophomore year, and WOW is all I can say. You have to really know what you are hearing though, sometimes when you are listening to the heart, you might pick up bowel sounds ;) Just remember, hearts murmur, they don't growl!

I know its a bit expensive, but look at it as a long term investment. Pop the extra 11 bucks and get a littman ID tag. They are EXTREMELY hard to remove. I had to buy a new one because I couldnt get my first one off my Classic :)

i like littman too! but DO NOT get the lightweight one. it sucks. couldn't hear crap. luckily, i laid it down somewhere and someone stole it. so it gave me an excuse to by the master classic II. can hear much better now!! i always keep it around my neck...

I used to have the Littman Classic II SE (I think that's what it is called). It's the $100 ish stethescope, and it's good too.

Life Uniforms has Littman Classic II SE on sale for $76 and change plus a $10 coupon good after Jan. 1.

Based on the majority of recommendations by this forum and because I simply didn't have any other experience to go on I purchased the Littmann Classic II SE from Steeles.com for $57.95 which was by far one of the best prices around. I also got the ID tag for $5.40. After shipping the total was $69.85.

I think the pricing for the other scopes is just as good.
