I've had an Ultrascope for more than a decade. It is great. I have been able to hear lung sounds through a kevlar vest. I had to get new tubing about 6 years ago. Wearing it around my neck caused the tubing to become hardened due to contact with skin oils. No problems since I put a scope sock on it. Big plus is that if you have a cute one, docs are less likely to ask to borrow it and thus walk off with it.
I had an ADC scope. Good quality, but because of using it frequently at work and keeping it around my neck, the tubing has since become very stiff. I am actually on here looking for a new scope because the cost of tubing for the Adscope is about the same price I paid for my entire scope.
Our hospital uses all ADC dual head scopes for the OB unit. Each baby has its own in L&D, but the nurses out on the floor have their own.

Speaking of scope socks (sorry for the hijack)
I got an awesome one at Tafford; its literally like sock material, and fits close to the tubing, not one of those fluffy ones or animal-shaped ones. But now they don't sell them anymore!!
Does anyone know where to get them?
Also, In re: stethoscopes--I wil be replacing mine soon too. Does it matter if its double or single lumen (is one better than the other or is it just preference?) and does the length matter? SOme are shorter than others.
(LOL if you watch "The Office" this is where Michael would say "Thats what she said" :lol2:

Hi everyone, I'm Theresa. I am a recent graduate and just passed my NCLEX on Sep 28th. I just accepted a job offer on a OB floor at a local hospital and I am very excited.
I have a question. I am looking for a new good quality stethoscope. I have a Littman Classic II and I hate it, yes I don't like the Littman ones. They don't work well for me.
Has anyone tired any type by DRG (Doctors Research group) or or ADC (American Diagnostics Corporation? I have heard good things about DRG, but where I live there is not alot of chocies to be able to try any brand besides Littman out.
So if anyone can give me any type of imput as far as brands or styles from a brand that would be helpful. I'd like to sepnd under $100 in possible.
Thanks so much. I am looking forward to getting advice from these fourms.
