Hello I'm new to this forum so please bare with me =D.
Ok im entering my senior year of high school this week and one thing I kind of new what i wanted to do in life was to pursue a career in the medical field. My first option was Radiologic Tech, i was told that the field was kind of flooded and was hard to find jobs. Next was medical assistant which i scratched off the list as well as surgical tech. I was told that i should strive for a job with better advances, opportunities, and wages.
Now which has brought me to the stand of nursing; what do I need to do to get me on the right tracks? My biggest question is how do i go about schooling. Should i go for ADN or BDN? Should i just head straight to a 4 year? What would be best in the long run? And what steps should i take to further my career?
Also what do you think of those that were mention above? Should i still consider about entering it?

I was kind of like you when I got out of high school. I knew I wanted to be in the medical field but I didn't know which field. I got accepted to radiological tech school but I knew I would get bored doing that so I switched back to nursing which was my original choice. I have finished my first semester of nursing school at JSU and I absolutely love it. I will graduate with my BSN. Either route (ADN or BSN) are great choices. The main reason I did BSN is because I plan to go back for my master's. You can't go wrong with nursing if you enjoy helping others and caring for people.

I just graduated with my ADN from Jeff State. I plan on going to JSU starting Summer of 2011 to get my BSN then will continue on with my MSN. You can choose the track that is best for you. One piece of advice would be if you want to do the BSN track, pick a school and stay at that school. I talked with my advisor at UAB and she said that being a transfer student (taking all your pre-reqs at a 2 year or other college) puts you at the bottom of the list when it comes to who gets accepted into the nursing program. Native Students (those that started there as freshmen) get first look...
Good Luck!
