Stem Cell: Nursing Case Study----Please Help...:(

Published

Hey guys,

Lets say i was a mother of a patient and my daughter had leukemia. But, the doctors say that stem cell research can be used to save my daughter's life. I ask the nurse what i should do?

1) What ethical principles are associated with such a scenario? (like autonomy vs nonmaleficence)

2) Also, can anyone maybe refer me to a book or website that talks about the nursing ethical issues with stem cell.

Please help answer the above questions...

Thanks to everyone who responds.

What are your thoughts on this?

I just did a presentation on this topic... just do a google search for stem cell ethics and you will find a pile of info.

I understand there is a vast amount of info on this topic, but, can you please help me answer the above questions.

There's generally a feeling here that folks don't want to do an assignment for someone else....but are happy to help. Which is likely why Silverdragon asked for your thoughts on this....if you shared what your thoughts are....folks might be able to help you polish them up or maybe share a contrary thought.

But just asking for answers without sharing anything first....looks like someone who is trying to get others to do their homework for them (whether that's your intent or not).

I'm using "Ethical Issues in Modern Medicine~Contemporary Readings in Bioethics" by Steinbock/Arras/London for my Biomedical Ethics course that I'm taking. It would be very useful for this assignment. See if you can find it at the library. :)
