Hi everyone! I'm a RN with 1+ years experience in Med/Surg Nephrology and will be moving to the ED in October . My question is what are some good resources for healthcare news, advances in medicine, research, etc? I just want to be well-informed on what's going on.. Be it politically, scientifically, everything. Most mainstream news seems to be nothing but snake oil cures for your weight loss troubles.. So do you guys have any news outlets or reputable resources for staying up to date on what's happening in healthcare?

Nursing journals, both general and for your area of specialty. Also, you're an RN- you're equipped to do more in-depth research on the potentially sketchy information you find in general new reports. Read the actual studies they're (usually badly) summarizing, see if the issues are being discussed in professional publications. And stick to mainstream news sites for your starting points- their science reporting is usually bad, but it's still miles ahead of sites like "Natural News" or Food Babe, which have a very specific agenda to push and will twist or outright fabricate information.
