Hello All :) i am in my first semester at a California State University and I'm not happy here at all. The school is fine and i like my campus and I'm doing alright, but I am not enjoying the community and city and atmosphere I'm in. My grades are alright but definitely could be better. Should I transfer back to my hometown community college (DVC)? will it hurt my chances of being accepted into programs? is is frowned upon to go to a cc after a csu? Help!! any piece of advice is appreciated :)

Specializes in GENERAL.

No, it will not hurt you academically if you bow out gracefully from the state school. You know what I mean?

But it may later in life in other unforeseen ways.

You should understand that attending an away college is fraught with the misgivings you are currently experiencing.

Things like homesickness, not being able to connect with people of like minds, loneliness.

So my advice would be to hang in there. Most people who bail from a challenge later on have regrets. You are not the only one going through this experience although I understand it must feel that way.

Seek counseling and support groups that the school will hook you up with. There are so many people out there. Why suffer alone.

Give yourself a chance and you will find that this too will pass.

Y'all, brothers and sisters, we must give this fledgling a chance to fly.
