Hi everyone I have a question. I want to apply for Spring 2014 at SCF, and I have all the pre-reqs and gen eds done. My GPA in the pre-reqs is a 3.4 and in the pre-reqs and gen eds its a 3.7. My question is do they also consider your overall gpa? I have a bachelors degree and didnt do so well my first couple of years from being young and screwing around. My overall gpa for all courses taken is a 2.75. I scored way above passing on the TEAS-V but I dont have a CNA license. Do you think I have any chance of getting in to the Spring semester, or should I apply for LPN and do the LPN-RN bridge program?
I would really appreciate any reply.
Thank you :)

Hello, I went to SCF and finished all my pre-req's and general education classes by 2010. I think I have a 3.3 in pre-req's and overall 3.7 GPA. I applied for the nursing program 3 consecutive times and did not get accepted. I went to the learning specialist at Venice who is in charge of information sessions and testing for nursing program. I asked what is the GPA pool for applicants accepted. She would not answer me directly but stated that I better make sure I get A's in ALL classes. I then went to Sarasota campus to speak with guidance. She was very helpful and told me straight that everyone who gets accepted has 4.0 and that only 12 applicants applied for LPN bridge and got right in. She said that everyone who applies for bridge gets in usually. This was at the end of 2011. SCF has recently changed standards for CNA certification. I would imagine that it is still competitive and they would probably pick the person with CNA over one that does not have certification for entrance into program. I applied for the LPN program at CTC at the end of 2011 and did not get accepted the first time due to over 200 applicants. I got in the second time. I'm 5 months in the program. They extended the time for next application because they did not have enough applicants to fill program. If I were you I would cover all grounds and apply for RN program and any LPN programs with or without CNA. My LPN program had healthcare worker and nursing assistant at beginning of 6 weeks if you passed that, you were eligible(over 120hours) to take CNA. So far everyone that graduates LPN has gotten in bridge program 1st try according to my instructors.
